Ubisoft Game Lab Competition 2021 - Theme: Apart Together
Leafy Looters is a game about two teams of plant-like space aliens compete against each other on a dangerous mission, scavenging for the most minerals from a dying planet. While collecting minerals as a team, each player will also shoot holes into the earth, sabotaging members of the other teams using either their laser gun or a formation-based team combo.
Our aim was to have a quirky set up that is eye catching and fun, inspired by games like Fall Guys and Maple Story. The core mechanics were aimed to be simple enough to pick up, but versatile. Players can dig larger holes when near teammates, encouraging teammates to stay together while trying to tear the enemy team apart. Our approach to completing our prototype includes of weekly check-ins and bi-weekly sprints while tracking goals using Github's project board and visual updates using Miro.
